The architectural team Kombinat. was established in 2006 by Alenka Korenjak, Tomaž Čeligoj and Blaž Kandus. In 2008, Ana Grk joined the group and together they founded the company Kombinat arhitekti, projektiranje d.o.o. Since then, the group is constantly inviting freelance architects or working in parthership with other arhitectural offices home and abroad. International collaborations include working with Vehovar Jauslin architects (CH), PPAG and Riegler Riewe Architects (A).

Kombinat engages in urban developments and public space refurbishments as well as in small projects such as single family houses or apartment renovations.

In collaboration with the ProstoRož - FlowerSpace Association, whose joint members are Ana Grk and Alenka Korenjak, Kombinat Architects renovated both the Plečnik Underpass and the Tivoli Underpass in Ljubljana (2009).


Projects and Awards

Several other competition entries were awarded, among them projects for Footbridge Ribja brv over Ljubljanica (2012), Islamic Centre in Ljubljana (2011) , Cultural Centre in Miren (2010) and Retirement Home in Hodoš (2007). In 2005 Tomaž Čeligoj and Alenka Korenjak won the competition for refurbishment of the city center in Slovenj Gradec, completed in 2010.

Background

Before setting up their own office, team partners were gaining experiences in renowned offices home and abroad. Tomaž Čeligoj previously worked with SADAR + VUGA Architects, Ana Grk at Bevk Perović Arhitekti and Huiswerk in Antwerp (B), Blaž Kandus at Bevk Perović Arhitekti and henke und schreieck Architekten in Vienna (A) Alenka Korenjak at henke und schreieck Arhitekten and PPAG in Vienna (A).

Ana Grk and Alenka Korenjak are also co-founders of prostoRož, an association exploring the use of public space by means of events and temporary interventions.
