The jury selects five nominees from 30 to 40 submitted proposals which are then allowed to wear a trade-mark of the Original Slovene Picture Book. The award winning book is announced on a special event. Most of the recent awarded books were published by Mladinska knjiga Publishing House and illustrated by Zvonko Čoh, Lila Prap, Andreja Peklar, Jelka Reichman, Peter Škerl, Suzi Bricelj and Matjaž Schmidt.
