Published annually since 1998, Studia Mythologica Slavica is a scientific journal, which aims to throw light on Slavic mythology from different points of view, to add to its reconstruction, and to present the mythopoetic and religious traditions of the Slavic nations. The journal is published by Institute of Slovene Ethnology at the Scientific Research Centre (ZRC SAZU) at Slovene Academy of Science and Arts. Since 1999 the journal is published in corporation with the University of Udine from Italy.


The journal publishes detailed analyses of Slavic mythopoetic traditions, and comparative studies on the mythology and religious notions of older Slavic, Eurasian and other civilisations. The character of the publication is both international and interdisciplinary, covering themes from the field of ethnology, philology, history, archaeology, religious studies, history of literature, and philosophy.
