Besides communicating the works of the selected poets to the festival selectors, [[Versopolis.com]] strives to also position itself – by means of a webportal – as a nodal point for European poetry. As this is otherwise predominantly dispersed on the web on a national basis, Versopolis aims for a more open and diverse European culture of poetry. Versopolis is a Europe-wide project that functions as a professional network and a web based platform, respectively, with an aim of connecting European national poetry scenes. These are represented by an annually selected cast of poets and various international poetry & literature festivals, which oblige themselves to invite a set number of selected poets and present them to new audiences. In this way, aspiring and emerging poets reach wider international audience and at the same time get acquainted with poets and literature professionals from other countries.

In accordance with a very language specific nature of poetry, Versopolis takes care for the translations of the involved poets' works, thus actually facilitating such a project. Versopolis was launched in 2014, with the website set up and the first exchanges taking place in 2015.

Besides communicating the works of the selected poets to the festival selectors, Versopolis.com strives to also position itself – by means of a webportal – as a nodal point for European poetry. As poetry still happens to be quite dispersed on the web on a national basis, Versopolis aims for a more open and diverse European culture of poetry. As such, Versopolis is supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme.
