Established in 1974, the 15-member [[Maribor Puppet Theatre]] produces four new shows each year involving more than 400 performances, among them educational performances for schools and language institutes (it also performs in German, English and Spanish). The company performs at its own venue, gives performances around Slovenia and undertakes foreign tours. The venue also plays host to several visiting puppet theatres. Maribor Puppet Theatre has taken part in the annual [[Summer Pier International Puppetry Festival, Maribor]] since 1990, and also hosted the [[Slovene Puppetry Biennial]] some years ago.
