The Borštnik Ring Award and Borštnik Awards are bestowed at the central festival of Slovene theatre, the Maribor Theatre Festival, held every year in Maribor. Every year the Borštnik Ring Award, the highest award for lifetime achievement in Slovene theatre, is also presented by a separate expert jury to an actor or actress who has left a major legacy to the Slovene stage.
