In 1992 the 16th Congress of the International Union of the Marionette (UNIMA) was organised by Ljubljana Puppet Theatre in Ljubljana. Since then Ljubljana hosts the biennial Lutke International Puppet Festival.
About UNIMA
UNIMA is a non-governmental organisation affiliated to UNESCO which was initiated in 1929 in Prague by puppetiers from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, France, Yugoslavia, Germany, Austria, Romania and the Soviet Union. The 4rd UNIMA congress took place in Ljubljana in 1933. The UNIMA office is located in Charleville-Mézières, France.
