PIFcamp, a technology-and-art-in-nature meeting, was established in 2015. Held in the stunning Alpine valley of the Soča river, in the Triglav National Park, it is organised by the Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory and the Projekt Atol Institute. It is a profoundly international event that promotes active involvement of the participants, who are invited to contribute their projects, research, ideas and skills into the collective creative endeavour. Though the festival invite several 'mentors', others are equally invited to lead workshops and other projects that can happen on spot.

Styling itself as a hack camp, this particular camp is 'hacking' in the fields of hardware and software, bioart and biotechnology, fashion, food production, music, and so on. The camp gave the participants the chance to co-work, co-exist and co-create with nature as well as with each other, which concluded with a nice assemblage of new creations.

Context and background

PIFcamp is part of a Changing Weathers project, which is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. Changing weathers is a project with partners from Norway, Finald, Latvia, netherlands, and Austria.

Conceptualised as a very open platform, it is a continuation of the regular Ljudmila education programmes and the embedded IDY, DIWO and open source concepts. By focusing on free distribution of knowledge, ideas and experiences, PIFcamp and its creators attempt to build strong foundations for new creative approaches within contemporary maker community, and therefore an inclusive and technologically empowered society.

Programme

The camp is open to anyone. Organizers are looking for hackers, makers, DIY enthusiasts, scientists, thinkers, programmers, noise freaks, new media artists, researchers, obsolete and new technology geeks, bio-artists, engineers, circuit benders, nature lovers and down-to-earth space explorers eager to work with each other for a better tomorrow.
