The Association for Film Cultural Development aims to stimulate the production of non-commercial films in the city of Maribor. As film education in elementary and secondary schools is minimal and film clubs are non-existent, action by the independent sector is necessary.

Film-like vertigous, a fortnightly radio programme dedicated to film, is also broadcast every two weeks by the Association on [[Mariborski radio Študent (MARŠ)]].

The Association for Film Culture Development was established in 2004 in Maribor. Its main goal is to promote film culture in the city of Maribor through the screenings of non-commercial, art films, through workshops and film education. It is the organiser of Intimate Cinema programme at GT22, of the Enimation, International Children and Youth Film Festival and of the Minoriti Open air Cinema at the open air auditorium of the Maribor Puppet Theatre.


Background

At the beginning the screenings took place at Narodni dom as well as ŠTUK Student Event Centre Maribor. From 2010 till 2015 the association was part of the initiative, which was reviving the old Maribor city cinema Kino Udarnik. from 2016 its domicile is GT22.

In addition to organising film screenings, the Association for Film Culture Development organises lectures and workshops and connects film makers and film lovers in the Podravje Region of eastern Slovenia. It also organises various film projects, issues publications and runs a mediatheque. Film Vertigo [Filmsko vrtoglavo], a fortnightly radio programme dedicated to film, was also broadcasted from 2004 to 2010 by the association on Mariborski radio Študent (MARŠ).
