Established in 1993, the Association of Slovene Restorers is a voluntary association of professional conservator-restorers (currently 150 members), who have been educated in the field and have a restoration certificate. It bestows the Mirko Šubic Award and the recognitions since 2008 for achievement in the restoration.

Mission

The Association seeks to facilitate the further development of restoration practice as well as spread the knowledge on the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage among the population. Special working groups deal with issues of legislation, international co-operation and education. The Association of Slovene Restorers organises various study trips, lectures and workshops. The Association tries to fill a gap in restoration education in Slovenia - at present tertiary education in this area exists only for sculpture and painting restoration and is offered by the Department of Restoration, Academy of Fine Arts and Design.

The conservator-restorers have gain its own award in 2008; until that they had to compete with the conservators for Stele Award or with the museum workers for Valvasor Award. The previous award winners are Marjanca Ambrožič Jeglič (2011), Jedert Vodopivec Tomažič (2009) and Zoran Milić (2008).
