In 2017 the Maribor office of the institute entered an international project called Tracing the Art of the Straub Family. Together with the University of Ljubljana and the partners from Croatia, Germany and Austria they formed a research consortium that explores the legacy of a prolific family of artists who lived and worked in the region – Johann Baptist (1704-1784), active in München and Wien; Philipp Jakob (1706-1774), active in Graz; Joseph (1712-1784), active in Maribor; Johann Georg (1721-1773) active in Radgona; and Franz Anton (1726-1774/6), active in Zagreb.
Temporary exhibitions are sometimes organised by the office. In 2009 the exhibition Zgodovinski parki in vrtovi [Historic Parks and Gardens] was presented, accompanied by a monography.
For their achievement in the conservation of Slovene cultural heritage, employees of the office have won several Stele acknowledgements and Stele Awards, namely: Janez Mikuž (2010), Viktor Gojkovič (2007), Mirko Šoštarič (1995), and Andreja Volavšek (1991). The Stele recognition was received by Neva Sulič Urek (2008) and Bine Kovačič (2007).
