Literatura Literary Artistic Association was established in 1989 to manage the newly-autonomous Literatura magazine. In the following year the Association also began publishing books.

Collections published since that time include: Novi pristopi ('New Approaches'), which presents original Slovene essay and theory texts; Prišleki ('Newcomers') for upcoming artists; Stopinje ('Footsteps') focues on foreign authors; and Labirinti ('Labyrints'), featuring translations of J. L. Borges, G. Deleuze, F. Guattari (Kafka), Paul de Man and Gianni Vattimo. It has also published various short stories by Slovene authors, including Noč v Ljubljana ('Evening in Ljubljana'), based on a historical event: the night that James Joyce spent at the railway station in Ljubljana.

The Association is also active in organising literature events and talks, workshops for literature critique and poetry slamming. On the occasion of the all year round event World Book Capital Ljubljana 2010 the workshops for writing a radio play will be organised from September till March 2010.
