Funding
Funding for ZRC SAZU's projects is provided from Slovenia's national budget, predominantly through public tenders issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. A part of the basic research is funded by different international private or governmental funds, while industry and enterprises support some applied research projects. ZRC SAZU's research strategies and policies are made and monitored by its Scientific Council.
International cooperation
ZRC SAZU is the largest Slovene research centre in the humanities and natural sciences. As an academic institution it plays an important role in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Within the past 10 years in particular it has become increasingly involved in international research projects in European Union, either through the European Commission, European Science Foundation or other organisations. Researchers of the ZRC SAZU publish some 30 scientific monographs and 600 scientific papers in Slovenia and abroad every year.
ZRC SAZU has its own publishing house and a bookstore.
