In 2015, its film Stories from the Chestnut Woods by Gregor Božič got development support from the Creative Europe Media fund. A co-production with the Slovene-Italian Transmedia Production House, the film is based on three short stories by Anton Chekhov, and on selected recordings of folk traditions from the Friulian Slavia and Kanalski Kolovrat regions. It addresses the phenomenon of mass emigration by the young and the consequent desolation of parts of the world.
Currently in production are also two other films – Playing Men, a creative documentary by Matjaž Ivanišin, and The Road, a low-budget travelogue by Darko Sinko.
Marina Gumzi
After studying dramaturgy in Ljubljana and Berlin, Marina worked as a freelance theatre and film dramatist. In 2011 she completed her postgraduate programme at Atelier Ludwigsburg – Paris for Young European Film Producers and took over Nosorogi. In the same year, she was appointed the head manager for film within Maribor, European Capital of Culture 2012. In the following years, she was selected to participate in the Emerging Producers, the EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) and the Rotterdam Lab training programmes.
