Established in 2012, the Slovene Arts & Culture Residency in Vienna is the most recently established destination within the Slovene Arts & Culture Residencies Programme. The participation in the programme is reserved for Slovene artists, writers, translators, curators, critics, producers, etc., that are selected annually by the open call of the Ministry of Culture.

First the residency was located at the Student Residence and hotel Korotan (owned by the Slovene state), then in spring 2014 it moved to a new location at Ziegelofengasse in the Wieden/Margareten District, near the centre of Vienna.

The AiR programme complements the activities of the Slovenian Culture and Information Centre (SKICA) in Vienna.

The programme is reserved for Slovene creators, regardless of discipline. The residents are selected by the ministry's expert committee for the following year, considering the submitted proposals that should outline an art project or a research developed in partnerships with local organisations or experts.

The residencies are limited to one-month-stays with the rental, maintenance and travel costs covered by the Ministry of Culture.
