Video in progress and Photonic Luminatic

In 2006 the Gallery introduced the programme entitled Video in progress, consisting of presentation of contemporary video art. The focus of the first year was on video artists from the region, for the second year more conceptual criteria were used.

As the intersection between photography and video, the Photon Gallery prepares annually since 2008 the exhibition entitled Photonic Luminatic. It goes about an overview introducing the selection of Slovenian artists who use medium of photography and video for research and creative endeavour in the broader context of the visual arts. The selection for the show is traditionally done by Dejan Sluga, the director of the Photon Gallery, video artists are selected by Vesna Bukovec and Metka Zupanič. Sales service and international art fairs

The Photon Gallery represents almost 40 national and international artists. The works that could be commissioned from the gallery are documented on the Gallery website. Since few years it visits regularly the international art fairs using the strategy of the curated presentation based on thematic frame. Until now the gallery presented itself on Viennafair and Berliner Liste, where the Gallery booth opened topics of death, death-wish and dark sexual desires. The presentation under the title Thanatos featured 4 photo-artists (Bojan Salaj, Tomo Brejc, Goran Bertok, and Gyula Fodor) and the video group Kolektiva showing a kind of bizarre video, demonstrating how an art institution is swallowed by a giant vagina.
