Established in 2012, the Slovene Arts & Culture Residency in Vienna is the most recently established destination within the Slovene Arts & Culture Residencies Programme offering one-month stay for Slovenian creators, facilitating their international projects.

First the residency was located at the Student Residence and hotel Korotan (owned by the Slovene state), then in spring 2014 it moved to a new location at Ziegelofengasse in the Wieden/Margareten District, near the centre of Vienna.

The AiR programme complements the activities of the Slovenian Culture and Information Centre (SKICA) in Vienna.

Eligibility

The residencies host Slovene artists, writers, translators, curators, critics, producers, etc., regardless of discipline. Following the open call, the residents are selected by the ministry's expert committee for the following year, considering the submitted proposals that should outline an art project or a research developed in partnerships with local organisations or experts.

The Ministry of Culture covers the rental, maintenance and travel costs. The residency is co-managed by the Slovenian Culture and Information Centre (SKICA) in Vienna.
