The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Tel Aviv functions as an official representative of the Republic of Slovenia in Israel since 1994. It provides consular services in Israel (and Palestinian territories) and promotes bilateral political, economic and cultural ties between the two states.

Other representatives of the Republic of Slovenia in Israel include the consulates in Tel Aviv and in Betlehenm.

Cultural cooperation

Cultural cooperation is based on a provisional three-year agreements in the fields culture, education and science, renewed on a regular basis since the year 2000. The cultural ties between the two countries seem to be thriving, especially when it comes to promotion of the latest art production from Slovenia.

Performing, visual and musical arts

The Embassy promoted many Slovenian artists and art groups from the field of performing arts, including guest performances by Slovene National Theatre Maribor in Tel Aviv, Iztok Kovač (En-Knap Productions), performance by KUD Ljud and a guest lecture by dramaturge Tatjana Ažman (Slovenia Centre of the ITI).

Contemporary visual art production was presented by Irwin in Holon and attendance of Zdenka Badovinac (Museum of Modern Art) at the TLV's international panel of curators (from Istanbul, Moscow, Ljubljana and Herzilya).

Recently, in spring/summer of 2013, jazz player Gašper Bertoncelj performed at HaSimta Theater in Tel Aviv the Ljubljana City Theatre (MGL) hosted at the Hanoch Levin International Festival.

Education and science

The State of Israel and Republic of Slovenia signed a bilateral agreement in the fields of education, science, culture, youth and sports in 2012. This legal basis enables a platform for cooperation and cultural exchange (institutions, art, science, language, etc.).

The Embassy assisted in promotion of scholarships for postgraduate and undergraduate students from Slovenia to study in Israel (Hebrew or other Israeli-related subject). In the spirit of bilateral agreement scholarship were granted also to students from Israel to study in Slovenia.
