The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Berlin is the official representative body of the Slovene Government in the Federal Republic of Germany. It promotes bilateral political, economic and cultural relations between Slovenia and Germany. The consular assistance is provided by the embassy in Berlin, the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Munich and the consulates in Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf.


Cultural cooperation

The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Cooperation in Culture was signed in 1994.

In 2004 the apartment in Berlin was set up as a part of for Slovene artists, writers, translators, curators, critics or producers who are selected via an annual open call of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. The Slovene Arts & Culture Residency, Berlin is managed by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Berlin.

In 2009 the Scientific Center for Eastern and Southeastern Europe Regensburg opened a Slovenian reading room, Slowenischer Lesesaal, Regensburg, a valuable resource for the Slovenian diaspora and for people interested in Slovenian culture and language. It was established by the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia represented by the National and University Library in Ljubljana, University Library Regensburg and the Institute for Southeastern Europe.
